How do I obtain a business license?
You may obtain a Business License Application from the Finance Department. The regular business license application is available for download. Depending on the type of business you will be conducting, you will have to show proof that you are complying with federal, state and county laws. Once you have completed the application turn it back into the Finance Department with copies of the required documentation and the pay the necessary fee. Certain businesses may take as long as four weeks for approval. Once approval has bee obtained it will take an addition two to three weeks to receive your license.

How much does a Business License cost?
The fee varies for different types of business and is based on your estimated gross receipts from the time you start your business to the end of that calendar year. Please contact our office for the fee.

What if my business is home-based?
Every business conducted from a home in the City of Delano must have both a Business License and a Home Occupation Permit. The Home Occupation Permit must be submitted with the Business License Application. The Home Occupation Permit Application may be obtained from the Planning Department. heir number is (661) 721-3340

What if I sell my business?
A Business License is not transferable. The license is terminated when business ownership changes. The new owner will be responsible for obtaining his/her own business license

When do I renew my license?
All licenses expire December 31st . The renewal forms are mailed out during the first week of January and are due February 1st. You will need to provide your gross receipts for the prior year. If you do not receive your renewal in the mail, please contact our office. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve the business owner of his/her responsibility in renewing the business license nor is it grounds for waiving any penalties due.

How do I obtain a Fictitious Business Name?

How do I obtain a resale or sales tax permit?

I’m having a private dance. Where do I get a dance permit?
