1. How much does a building permit cost?

Cost varies upon square footage or valuation.

2. How long does it take to approve submitted plans?

Four to Six weeks. There are three departments that review the plans - Building, Engineering, and Planning.

3. How do I obtain permits for a residential or commercial addition?

Residential projects need 2 sets of builing plans, including floor plans and elevations (side views) with dimensions clearly labeled, a Site Plan that clearly shows distances of the existing and proposed building from property line. Plan check fee is required upon submittal of plans.

Commercial Projects need 5 sets of builind plans, 2 sets of structural calculations or Title 24. Plan check fee is required upon submittal of plans.
